Quick solution? Delete the citations and add all four together. However, if you went in to the document and wanted to add another reference in that bundle, it would show up as 3-5 6. For example, if you were citing 3 articles and they were the 3rd, 4th and 5th citations added, they’d probably be added as follows 3-5 (if using a numeric inline citation style format like “Nature Genetics”.). If you add multiple citations at the same time, the appropriate citation style is used for such situations. Mendeley allows you to import citations and bibliographic information directly in to your Word document. The Mendeley Cite add-in for Word, which can be used without having Mendeley Desktop open or even installed if your library is synced to. Mendeley Cite speeds up the process of referencing when writing, giving researchers the tools to quickly and easily insert references from their Mendeley library directly into their Microsoft Word document. But, the plugin is not automatically installed.
Other than that, the software provides a plugin for integration into Microsoft Word. So, you don’t need to type references at the end of the paper or thesis manually. The main benefit of Mendeley is it can cite the references quickly.
They have chosen to not update Mendeley to work properly with Word 2016 for Mac.
The Mendeley citation plugin now works with Microsoft Word 2016 for Mac (and Windows, but that worked already), so you can now, once again, easily generate citations and bibliographies.
